New Zealand versus United States - Cricket

Following the astounding success of the first NZ-US cricket match at September Camp 2006, the  decision was made to keep the tradition alive and the New Zealand team gave Kaicho Amor a Kiwi Cricket set for his birthday.

Not the usual cricket style - but hey, whatever gets the job done...

On the Wednesday night, prior to leaving the US, the 2nd NZ-US Cricket Challenge was played.

The US fielded a small team - mainly only one person, however - after all was said and done, young Robin managed to score some good runs.

Courtney Kruse, 3rd from left, playing his usual position of Left Right Out...

The game was interrupted occasionally due to impressive hits seeing the ball lost in the bushes, or on one occasion wedged firmly into a bush of Poison Ivy. Much deliberation was required to decide the best method to recover the ball - finally a short stick was used. Play resumed shortly afterward.

Umpires Standish and Lawson discuss the fading light, and prevalence of sheep doo-doo on the pitch.

The game was somewhat short lived as the call for dinner interrupted play. Play was unable to resume due to the pressing need to pack bags ready for departure the following day.

We suspect play will continue at Summer Camp 2008, or possibly NZ Spring Camp in October 2007.
