Guiding Principle 6

"Move from easy to difficult, and from simple to complicated. More time is required to train longer and harder as you progress. Do not hurry or engage in senseless or reckless practice. Develop gradually"

Too often people are in too much of a hurry to "get to the good stuff". In much the same way, when building a house, if the foundation is poorly prepared the entire house is at risk of collapse.

When studying Karate, basic techniques must be learnt, drilled and understood thoroughly or the advanced techniques, concepts and principles will have a poor foundation.

The same concept applies to your career. If you cannot understand and apply the basic principles of your trade, you will never develop into a competent and skilled worker. If you aren't a competent and skilled worker, you will never be able to progress into management (should you decide to). Worse yet, if your skills are unfounded, you would be unwise to venture into business.

"More time is required to train longer and harder as you progress."

Initially, students can get away with one class per week and still make progress in their studies. They will find in time, that they need to attend two classes to continue developing. As they progress further, students find that they need even more training time to continue.

This is where private classes, seminars and training camps become essential to a students development.

We encourage students to find time during their day to sneak in extra training. We teach methods and exercises which assist with this.

"Do not hurry or engage in senseless or reckless practice."

Engaging in unsafe or improper training will lead to injury and will invariably slow a students progress in Ryukyu Kempo.

It takes time to become a good Martial Artist. The world is full of martial artists who haven't put in the time or effort to truly understand their chosen art.

Unfortunately, the world is sadly lacking in Martial Artists who have done it the hard way and have the skills to show for it.

"Develop gradually."

Like Guiding Principle 5, this says it all. Take your time, do it right - the results are well worth the effort.
