Cultivate Perseverance or a Will for Striving

"Doryoku no seishin wo yashinau koto"

Nobody gets anywhere in life without perseverance or striving for excellence in whatever they do.

It doesn't matter if you study Karate or you drink too much beer, human beings find it hard not to strive for excellence in the things they love. Whether you find excellence by way of achieving in Karate or you find excellence(?) through sclerosis of the liver, if you work hard at it (persevere) you will achieve excellence.

When karate training gets boring or seems repetitive, that's the time when you must dig deep and push onwards. break through the boredom barrier and push to newer higher levels.

We frequently see it in younger students... "I'm bored, we're always doing the same things" and then they quit. Renshi Lawson says that the hardest thing to do is to keep walking through the Dojo door. As long as you achieve that, you're persevering and striving.

No-one gets anywhere by taking the easy road. None of the worlds great pioneers and true leaders (and we don't include most politicians in that statement!) have made their way by "cruising"...

Renshi Rickard would not have found the Alliance without persevering and striving for the best Ryukyu Kempo available. He could not simply sit and put up with, what he knew to be, less than the best.

What kind of a person are you?
