Strive for a Good Moral Character

"Jinkaku kansei ni tsutomeru koto"

As the first Dojo Kun, this defines what we are aiming to achieve through our training. This sets the pace for all others to follow.

What is a Good Moral Character? The definition probably changes depending upon who you talk to. Different people will have different standards - some higher, some lower.

Within the Alliance, and particularly in the Ryukenkan, our definition is as follows:

Politeness, Good Family Values, Earning an Honest Living, Speaking the Truth, Supporting Friends and Colleagues, Living Life to its Fullest, Training Hard and finally... Having a Healthy Sense of Humour!

Does all this mean that you have to be a tea-totalling goody-good? Absolutely not! Live life and experience all you can, just know the difference between right and wrong, stay on the right side of the law and don't partake in anything which could or would hurt yourself or those closest to you.

Treating others as you would have them treat you is a good place to begin.
